I manage lots of social media pages for companies for the last 7-9 years mainly targeting Ugandans.
For a long time i have been planing to write about this issue as most Ugandans on Facebook either don’t read all the way or don’t pay attention or simply don’t understand what they read.
If i post a Job Opportunity and write specifically that you have to send CV’s to an email and all comments or messages to inbox wont be considered – so many still comment and ask how much is the salary, or tell me – “Hire me” or inbox and then complain in the inbox that we didn’t answer them or ignore them… REALLY?
Other posts we mention an offer or talk about a product and tell people to get more info – kindly call 077xxxxxxx or email xxxx@sssss.aaa or visit us at Plot xxxx – guess what the most common questions / comments are -where do we find you? whats your contact? i just cant be rude BUT so many times i just feel like replying – DAAAA – read above !!!
I am not sure why is this happening and why so many just don’t get it, i know it is an education thing, when i was in school it was the main thing they insisted to teach us – understand what you read!!! explain to the teacher what you read!!! it was key and basic element of my education.
Should i assume that most of those Ugandans are not educated?
No offense and don’t attack me – there are many sharp Ugandans that i know and interact with BUT so many that i find on Social Media in Uganda are just driving me mad.
i would like to know what you think ..
Truth be told many Ugandans love jumping to answer or comment without getting the facts correct 1st. This is a problem that stems across the different sets of people. I also get pissed off but guess that is how it is…..
The problem at times relates to vendor communicators who don’t know how to communicate and engage the reader / prospective client, leading to people not reading in full and asking questions that are answered somewhere in the content. Important to understand what your target client needs to know to decide if they need to read more, click a link or stop there/move on. Poor marketing in Uganda helps explain why our economic growth is not where it could be.
Can I just say what a relief to find someone who actually knows what theyre talking about on the internet. You definitely know how to bring an issue to light and make it important. More people need to read this and understand this side of the story. I cant believe youre not more popular because you definitely have the gift.
